Digital Radiography

Sumrall Animal Clinic is pleased to offer digital radiography services. Radiography is known more commonly as x-ray technology. X-ray technology is very important to a veterinarian because animals are unable to tell us what hurts or where it hurts! Digital x-ray is a great asset to a practice because the veterinarian is able to manipulate the image in order to exam a small area more thoroughly. In cases of consultation, Dr. White is able to email images to a specialist right away. This is beneficial to you as a pet owner because it provides efficient and quick diagnosis and treatment for your beloved pet.

In Clinic Diagnostics

Sumrall Animal Clinic is capable of providing accurate and efficient diagnostics using our Blood Chemistry and CBC analyzers. Within minutes these machines can tell Dr. White what your pet cannot: what is happening inside their body. Blood Chemistries determine how your pet’s liver, kidney, and pancreas are functioning and give vital information on electrolyte balance, hydration, and blood glucose levels. CBCs (complete blood counts) can indicate if your pet is anemic, has an infection, or has certain types of cancers. This information allows Dr. White to more effectively guide the treatment of your pet. It also allows her to assess your pet’s general health (especially important geriatric patients) and to determine proper anesthetic protocol should your pet require surgery.

Dr. White and her staff also analyze skin scrapings for topical parasites and fungal infections. Fecal flotation is performed routinely to determine intestinal parasite loads.

In addition, Sumrall Animal Clinic can provide same-day results when checking for Heartworms, Parvovirus, and Feline Leukemia Virus / Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FeLV/FlV).

Laser Surgery

Dr. White and the staff at Sumrall Animal Clinic advocate the usage of the most advanced surgical knowledge and technology for their patients. LASER surgery is sterile, efficient, (and often) a more suitable method for performing surgical procedures. Essentially, instead of using a scalpel to cut tissue, a focused beam of light energy is used. This results in less bleeding, less tissue trauma, and less pain in recovery than traditional surgical methods. Eye and eyelid surgeries, declawing, ear surgeries, oral surgeries, lump and tumor removals, as well as spays and neuters are just a few of the procedures that benefit from the use of LASER surgery.

Laser Therapy

One of the most exciting advancements in treatment options for your pet, LASER Therapy is a sterile, non-invasive, technique to address pain from injury or arthritis in your fur-baby. Specifically pulsing light waves (not to be confused with cutting laser beams) are focused on particular areas to reduce inflammation in joints and muscles. LASER Therapy also increases circulation to the affected area and stimulates healing factors in wounds. The anti-inflammatory effects of LASER Therapy allow Sumrall Animal Clinic to treat joints and certain neurological (spinal) conditions without surgery or drugs, or can be used as an enhancement to the standard treatments. The wound healing effects of LASER Therapy are dramatic and have the added benefit of decontaminating the site by destroying bacterial and fungal secondary infections.
